What was up with that girl? I liked that idea alot. As Grace gets pulled deeper and deeper into his world, she finds herself face to face with the terrifying secret he’s been hiding from her all along.

Daniel comes back after three years of being gone. It’s always a plus to have grounded, practical characters with values and a good head on their shoulders. Lists with This Book. For the record, that also happens in Twilight.

I am not sure what her angle is yet. She’s sheltered; she wouldn’t know what Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Gaiman’s Sandman would look like if they bit her, so every monstrous revelation is doubly new and shocking to her. Yet our protagonist, Grace Divine, doesn’t figure out the mystery until she is very blatantly told on page I have the second book, but I am not sure if I will read it. Sometimes when the meat of the story is revealed too late, I find myself wondering whether it was worth the work to get through.
